A Funny ThingMy head floats
In a cotton ball
The way Lilly pads
Travel over a pond's surface.
You tell meŚwith lips drawn down
"Pay attention, you always do this."
In a haze I nod and tap
My twice chewed-over lips.
My head floats
In a cotton ball
A sloth on a branch.
The PassingI hear Bells crying
In my head,
I hear Bells knell
For those passed.
The thrum goes on
For those left behind.
How often do you
Take the time to listen?
How often do you
Soak up that second to see?
This melody called life
Can you taste it? Hear it?
Spices enter your lungs,
Close your eyes.
The ocean envelops your ears.
You only have so long,
Do you spare time to listen?
Do you bring yourself to see?
The thrum goes on,
For those left behind.
The HumThe city hums as toxic smoke
Coils in the air like a snake,
Grasping at the sky pulsating
Grayish color in its wake.
Tall buildings suffocating
Uniformed workers in search for
The nearest subway train,
Emotion stuffed amidst bodies rushing.
Beady eyes scan surrounding terrain,
Sweat rolls down open pores,
Warm breath stains cool air
As bodies litter the sidewalk stains.
Sly glances shared reveal the wear
The metal tombs have exacted
On the soul of the unwilling,
How will they offer any care?
Metal compresses against metal,
Love and hate are merged in one,
Dark smoke coils in the air
Blotting out the unseen city.
The Trade"The Trade"
As the cards switched hands - some made the bet,
Our incoherent mumble - a loitering mess,
The sun has ebbed - our eyes are bright,
But blank and eager they're filled with fight.
The tomb is empty but soon to be filled,
Our loss of money and saddened build,
The aftermath of our bleeding blood,
The hollow shell of its lingered kill.
Give me someone to lean upon,
Abundant it is and evident it's gone,
Left alone upon the street,
So scramble they do and dance they don't,
The leftovers of a night from home.

The NightMy element, the night
The Moonlight, sends shadows dancing
The sky dotted with lights of untold life
The street lights, a radiant glow
Lighting the way, to my destination
My senses amplify
Picking up the slightest sound
Catching the faintest movement
Feeling every change in wind direction
Where shadows can hold everything
And light offers a slight repause
I am most alert
Yet most at home
Here wondering the night.
Aaron GreenHe has four patients in analysis,
who lie on the couch, and six patients
who come in for psychotherapy
and sit in a chair.
A vivid, impatient,
black modern sofas
reproductions of modern
art, an unswerving classical
I remember the agreeable warmth
of the low-ceilinged,
dimly lit room.
A cozy lair.
From these early, unimaginable transactions
between proud, lovesick women and
nervous, abstinent analysts--
the feverish rush of discoveries.
He conducted therapy as no classical
Freudian analyst would conduct it
today--as if it were an ordinary
in which the analyst
In your garden yesterdayIn your garden yesterday
which you lodge among many loves:
a gentle, wishful sway
below the florid eaves;
I noticed the quiet leaves
had weathered each cruel ray
to foster the foxgloves
that flowered today.
The CoinA single coin is tossed in the air.
It may land on hope, or fall on despair.
A choice between two, just one is essential.
One is life crushing, one full of potential.
Some will claim luck, either bad or good.
Others say fate, the cosmos knew it would.
There's those who have faith, who wish for the grand,
But that hope is empty if Life dealt a bad hand.
Some will give up and fold with their life.
Others keep trying and pull through the strife.
There will be prospers, there will be fails.
The coin is now falling... will it land on heads or tails?
Flood of Hope~ Nothing quite compares
to the beauty of the rain
that crowns me in hope
and carries me away
into another world
where I feel so free
from this broken land
and haunted jubilees.
In the dreary night,
I can hear them sing
of the trifling rain
that this nature brings
and it makes me mad
knowing that they rebuke
this lovely thing called rain
that serves as my refuge.
Under it's healing touch,
my soul is at eternal ease.
Scars of shame disappear
like black holes in the galaxy.
Since my darkness fell
to the power of the rain,
everything is brighter within
and I've never been the same. ~
Ice and FireYour eyes lock onto mine,
Icy blue, they freeze the space
between us, and fill it with tension
so intense it threatens
to cut me open and penetrate my heart,
pouring in it hatred and jealousy.
I break away from your gaze,
My heart beating out a warning
To my body; to run, to escape.
I am on fire,
Blood rushing through my veins,
Searching for a release.
Now, with my back turned
I can feel you watching me,
Your shadow replaces mine.
Every move I make,
Every sight I take in,
Whispers in the dark.
With me the act ends;
The mask rises off your face,
I can see right through you;
What lies beneath.
Levender EyesI slink on the boat
To the river Styx,
Charon cackles, bobbing his head,
Coal waters pull us away.
“Short lived,” my guide rasps.
Pincers implant themselves in my iris,
My eyes pop like turquoise cherries.
Eyeless ruts breathe out dust,
My lips part, I vomit moths.
Look lavender eyes.
My chest cracks open
Rickety doors on rusted hinges.
